Their large ears and sensitive whiskers help them detect danger in the darkness, while their sharp hearing allows them to sense approaching predators before it is too late.

Another amazing fact is that kangaroo rats can store food inside their burrows. They collect seeds and save them for times when food becomes harder to find, helping them survive harsh desert conditions.
